Tie Breaker Matters In Third Straight Week

Samantha Pierce was one of eight entrants in last week’s Monticello News football contest to correctly guess the winners in 13 of the 15 games listed.
Her son, Austin, a starter for the Monticello Hurricanes accepted the $25 prize from David Leach, Pharm.D. at Monticello Drugs.
One of the 13 that Ms. Pierce got right was Georgia’s 20-12 win over Tennessee Saturday. Mr. Leach is from Tennessee and a big fan of the Volunteers.
She missed on Ga. Tech’s 21-16 win over Maryland and Buffalo’s 31-24 win over Philadelphia. Ms. Pierce guessed that 71 points would be scored in Monticello’s 43-20 win over Southeast Macon. She also had faith in her son’s team and picked the ‘Canes to win.

Others who had 13 right but were further off on the tie-breaker included Nolan McMichael, Joanne Jordan, Walt Nelson, Jennifer Currie, DeAndre Stokes, Tyler Pierce and Timothy Postlethwait. Each of their names will be added to the grand prize honor roll, along with all of those who got 12 right.
This week contest players have another chance to win. The entrant who correctly guesses the most winners in the games listed, subject to the tie-breaker, will get a $25 prize from Lewis & Malone Heating & A/C Service.
The contest entry form and complete rules are on page 15 of today’s paper. Remember, write legibly and only one entry per person. Entries must be received at The Monticello News office no later than 5 p.m. tomorrow, Oct. 14.
