NEW BUSINESS

A ground breaking ceremony was held last Friday at the site of the Doctor’s Hospice on Eatonton Street, a new business which will open in Monticello in about a year.
Taking part in the ceremonial ground breaking were several of the international investors for the group and local politicians. They included (left to right) David Hughes, contractor; Dr. Peter Lee, Albert Fu Kuang Chung, Mayor Glenn Newsome, Zhenwu Wu, Rep. Susan Holmes, Mrs. Chou, George West and Jamal Yusufji followed by the Mayor-elect Bryan Standifer. The Chinese investors and several local community leaders had lunch at the visitors’ center before the ground breaking.
About 100 people were present for the ceremony which was anticipated to be reported in the local newspaper in China and on Chinese television. David Dyer, director of the Development Authority of Jasper County, welcomed the investors and other guests to Monticello and Jasper County and hope that this is just the beginning of several undertakings here.
