Mike Johnston Wins Football Contest

Mike Johnston picked the winners of 13 games out of the possible 15 right for last week’s football contest, winning a $25 prize from sponsor Lewis and Malone Heating & Air.
Mr. Johnston’s entire family plays the contest each week. He also made the comment to one of The News staff that “this was his week.” Mr. Johnston has been playing the game for years.
His children, Jack and Lacy, accepted his prize from Barry Ivey at Lewis & Malone. His wife, Dawn, also plays the contest.

There were two more players, John Braden and Bill Pruett who also got 13 correct but Mr. Johnston was closest with his 56 tiebreaker guess in the 55-28 loss of the Monticello Hurricanes to Putnam County last Friday.
There was a small upset with most contest players picking Georgia Tech and all but about two entrants chose Detroit to upset San Francisco.
There will be several names added to the honor roll this week with 27 entrants getting 12 or more right.
Players will have another opportunity this week to pick up a $25 prize, this week from Dairy Queen.
Anyone can play, anyone can win; it matters not if you are a novice or veteran.
All players who correctly guess the winners of 12 games listed will have their names added the Grand Prize honor roll for a chance for a four-ticket package to the Chick-fil-A Bowl in Atlanta.
Complete rules are on page 15. Remember all entries must reach The News office by 5 p.m. Friday to be eligible to win. Also, entries must be legible, and only one per person!
