Picking College Winners Was Tough in Contest

Henry Victrum, a football player at Jasper County High School, collected the prize from Rita Goodman at Dairy Queen, last week’s sponsor for winning the football contest with 12 correct picks after having less trouble with the college football contest choices than the rest of the 250+ players.
Mr. Victrum is a senior at JCHS and plays nose guard and fullback for the ‘Canes. He said that this is only his second year playing The News football contest, and he has never been on the Honor Roll before. He also said that he sticks with Florida, no matter who they play, which will be a test this weekend when they face another contest favorite, Georgia.

Ten other players got 12 right to make the honor roll, but were further off on the tiebreaker. Mr. Victrum guessed 47 points would be scored in Monticello’s win over Greene County, 34-14.
Several players were disqualified because they entered more than one time, and one was disqualified because it did not have a last name. Complete rules are on the page with the contest games. Each player may enter only one time each week. Entrants should make sure they write legibly so their entry can be considered.
This week one lucky player will win a prize worth $25 from Kelly Fox at Fox and Yeomans Insurance Co., this week’s prize sponsor. Contest is on page 8. Anyone can enter; just remember the deadline to have the entries to The News office is 5 p.m. tomorrow, Oct. 28. They can be delivered to 237 West Washington St., Monticello or faxed to 706-468-6576.
