Maurice Daniel Chaffin

Maurice Daniel Chaffin, 81, of Ringgold died Monday, Nov. 14, 2011.

A native of Monticello, Mr. Chaffin had lived in the Ringgold area for the past 17 months and was formerly of Jacksonville, Fla. where he lived for 45 years.

He was a retired employee of W&O Supply in Jacksonville, where he worked in sales. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served during the Korean War, and was a member of Murray Hill Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Pamela Chaffin; parents, Morris and Hardy Mae Stephens Chaffin, and sister, Betty Corley.

Survivors include a daughter, Melanie Callaway of Ringgold; son, Marcus Fielding Chaffin of Jacksonville, Fla., six grandchildren, Laura Beaty Callaway, Daniel Gaines Callaway, Chase Brinson Callaway, Thebaut Fielding Chaffin and Susan Kirby Chaffin, and several nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services will be held in Monticello.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Ringgold First Baptist Church in Ringgold, or to Murray Hill Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Fla.
