Delores Ann Binion Brooks
Delores Ann Binion Brooks, 75, died Saturday, November 5, 2011, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
Mrs. Brooks was born in Savannah to the late Napoleon Bonaparte Binion and Effie Lee Sheppard Binion. She lived in Nashua, N.H. five years before moving to Turtle Cove in 1983. She was a member of New Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was a member of the Red Hats Society, Turtle Cove Women’s Club, and a mentor for Jasper County Middle and High School.
Two brothers, Eugene Lamar Binion and John Owen Futch, Jr., and a sister, Melrose Binion Hodges, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Henry Hilton Brooks, Jr. of Monticello; sons, James Edward Brooks of Monticello and John Steven Brooks of Arlington, Wash.; grandchildren, Jamie Lee Hosman, Kaitlin Mae Brooks, Marcus Brooks, and Marleis Brooks; and brother and sisters, Seth Allen Binion, Marilyn Coleman, Mynette Lois Oglesby, and Sandra Wilkins, all of Savannah.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at 2 p.m. at New Bethlehem Baptist Church in Monticello. Rev. Charles Roper will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests food to be delivered to the church on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at noon.
