Clyde Allene Mooney Wages

Clyde Allene Mooney Wages, 95, of Monticello, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, at Jasper Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Wages was born in Jefferson to the late Eli McDuffie Mooney and Burice Mae Gober Mooney. Her husband, Maylon Burnette Wages, and son, Billy Joe Wages, preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Carol Wages, and brothers and sister, Morgan Mooney, Mutt Mooney, Howard Mooney, Clarence Mooney, and Woodie Wall.

Mrs. Wages–“Nanny”–as she was lovingly known by everyone, was a humble and obedient servant of God. If you ever met her, you immediately loved her. She always gave a helping hand to family, neighbors, friends, and strangers. God and her family were her top priorities and she always put them before herself.

“Nanny” loved her life because it was full of love and not material things and she always met the day with a smile that would light up the room. Some of her favorite pastimes were reading her Bible every day, taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, watching the Braves, fishing, flower gardening, crocheting, quilting, sewing, and cooking for her family.

Mrs. Wages was a strong determined woman that was quick-witted and sharp as a tack up until the last few months. She was dearly loved and admired by her family, friends, and acquaintances.

Survivors include her children, son-in-law, and daughter-in-law, Larue Willette Whitten of Canton, Temple Wages of Eatonton, Connie Maybelle and Jerry Willingham of Madison, and Nancy Wages of Monticello; grandchildren, Debbie Fuss, Donnie Whitten, Bonnie Payne, Johnnie Whitten, Connie Barlow, Rondi Wiggins, Tracey Biggs, Maylon Wages, Billie Joe “B.J.” Wages, Amy Knight, and Andy Martin; great-grandchildren, Nick Roper, Nathan Roper, Mindy Roper, Scott Barrow, Deke Whitten, Dusty Whitten, Heath Whitten, Joel Payne, Dave Payne, Samantha Ivy, Cindy Patterson, Sampson Whitten, Cassie Whitten, Stephen Rice, Crystal Whitten, Bo Brantley, Megan Brantley, Lindsey Brantley, Jessica Wiggins, Bobby Wiggins, Charles Wiggins, Taylor Wages, Tyler Wages, Michael Harden, Makayla Wages, Macey Wages, Mattie Wages, Alaina Knight, Abbie Knight, Melissa Martin, Drailan Martin, and Devin Martin; great-great- grandchildren, Rylan Roper, Sydney Roper, Hailey Roper, Gracie Roper, Alan Whitten, Davey Whitten, Danica Whitten, Avery Whitten, Savannah Ivy, Madison Brantley, Bo Brantley, Gavin Wiggins, and Abriana Martin.
