Willie Mae Dennis Maddox

Willie Mae Dennis Maddox, 91, of Shady Dale, died November 28, 2011 at the Retreat Nursing Home.

Mrs. Maddox was born May 19, 1920 to the late Carrie Bonner and Wyatt Dennis of Shady Dale.

She was a faithful member of Greenwood Baptist Church since her childhood. She attended Jasper County schools and married the late Johnny Maddox in 1953.

She was known for her outgoing personality and willingness to help others. Mrs. Maddox took pride in taking care of her home and children. When her health failed, Mrs. Maddox entered the Retreat where she made a lot of friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, those who preceded her in death were two sisters, Myrtice Lattimore and Daisy Bonner; a brother, Willie Dennis, great-grandchildren, Patricia, Bobby, and Julia Mae; and her only son, Robert Lee Dennis.

Survivors include two daughters, Carrie Mae Dennis of Madison, and Marie Dennis of Decatur; six grandchildren, Anne, Florene, Bobbie, Georgia Lee, Larry, and D’Lethia; 17 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives.

A service was held December 3 at Greenwood Baptist Church in Shady Dale with interment in the Community Cemetery, Shady Dale. Revs. Nicholas Curry and Willie Frank Norwood, officiated.
