Joel Gaston Wins Last 2011 Football Contest

Joel Gaston is no stranger to The Monticello News football contest—he’s probably played since its inception.
But, it has been a while since he won. This week, however, Mr. Gaston has bragging rights as he was one of only five people who correctly guessed the winner of 13 games listed in last week’s football contest.
Mr. Gaston hit the tie-breaker score on the head by guessing 29 points would be scored in Tucker’s 22-7 defeat of Lovejoy at the Ga. Dome last weekend.

For his effort he picked up a $25 check from Cal McElheney at Hamilton State Bank. Other people who were further off the mark on the tie-breaker, but had 13 right, included Timmy Cargile, Marty Boyett, Josh McMichael, and Jen Braden.
Several others correctly guessed the winner of 12 contests listed to have their names added to the grand prize honor roll. The list of names on the honor roll, and the number of times they qualified is on page 12 of today’s paper.
Players should check to be sure the number is accurate, because the grand prize drawing will be held tomorrow, Dec. 16, at 4 p.m. (The drawing time was previously announced for today, Dec. 15, but then management realized that would not give players enough time to check the accuracy of their numbers.
One lucky player, whose name will be drawn Friday, will win a four-ticket prize package to the Chick-Fil-A Bowl in Atlanta on New Year’s Eve.
