‘Cane Boys Win, Lady ‘Canes Lose

The Lady Canes came up short when they lost to Southwest Macon 46-37 Tuesday night at home.
The Lady Canes were tied at eight at the end of the first quarter but scored 13 points in the second to go into halftime with the lead. 21-14.
The second half did not fare as well for the Lady Canes and they came up short at the final buzzer.
The scoring Tuesday versus the Lady Patriots was lead by Sharika Pennamon with 19 points. Janee Chapman came up with five, Alliyah Barnes had 4, Maya Stokes, 3; Akeili Ross and Paissley Stewart, 2 each, and Keri Davis and Morgan Stokes both added one.
Rebounds were led by Barnes, and Stewart.
In the Jones County tournament held over the Christmas holidays, the Lady Canes did well, having won two, and lost one.
The male Canes had an exciting win Tuesday night when they defeated the Patriots 62-33.
The game began slowly with the ‘Canes missing several lay-ups and free throws, but the second half, looked like an entirely new team.
At halftime the Canes were only ahead by four points, 16-12.
The Canes came out after halftime practicing lay-ups and they were back in sync once again.

The team passed well, made lay-ups and free throws to put them ahead 29-14 at the end of the third.
In the fourth quarter, the Canes scored 31 points. Every play worked for them, the team continued to make baskets. The defense took the ball away and made the points count.
The scoring was led by Joshua Stone with 12, Donte Epps, 10; Tra Jackson and Cris Thomas both adding 7. Dondre Stodghill scored 6; De’Atrius Stone and Xavier Chapman both added five, while Jaquauious Standifer had four, Josh McMichael, Quiavus Sanders, and Cordea Dennis had two each.
The ‘Canes rebounds were led by Thomas and Jackson.
