Mrs. Fannie Lou Glawson
Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie Lou Glawson, who died December 30, 2011, were held January 4, 2012 at Springfield Baptist Church in Monticello. Rev. Gayle Middlebrook officiated; burial was in Smith-Thomas Cemetery.
Mrs. Glawson was born September 21, 1922 to the late Willie and Sally Standifer. She was the third of 11 children. During her teen-age years, she joined St. James A.M.E. Church. She later married Arthur Lee “Buck” Glawson on June 4, 1944, and to the union nine children were born.
Some time later, Mrs. Glawson moved her membership to King’s Chapel Community Church, where she served faithfully in many capacities. For many years she was a member of King’s Chapel choir where she was lead singer and president. She served as president of the Missionary Board, assisted with Holy Communion, a Sunday School teacher, and served on the Mother’s Board.
