Angela S. Walsh To Seek Tax Commissioner Seat

Angela Walsh has announced her intention to seek the post of Jasper County Tax Commissioner this year. Merry Faulkner, who has held that position for some time, has said she is retiring.

Mrs. Walsh grew up in Jasper County, the daughter of Mark and Rebekah Stone, and is a graduate of Jasper County High School. She is married to Michael Walsh and they have two children, Laura 8 and Tyler 3.

After graduating from Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville she was an insurance agent at Pound Insurance for five and half years. She then worked at McIntosh State Bank for five years, and is currently employed at Edward Jones Investments in Monticello.

“While working in insurance I feel that I gained Customer Service experience as well as knowledge of the Georgia Insurance and Department of Motor Vehicle laws. While working at the bank I processed property deeds and deed modifications, and calculated intangible taxes.”

Mrs. Walsh is an active member of Monticello Baptist Church. She serves on the Parent Advisory Board to Superintendent Dr. Mike Newton, and was secretary of the Jasper County Primary School PTO for two years. She is also a graduate of Leadership Jasper and believes that this taught her valuable skills to be used in the community.

“If elected I will strive to work with the Commissioners and other officials. I pledge to apply money in a timely manner, and perform my duties faithfully and honestly. I will continue to provide the friendly and efficient service that has been established under Merry Faulkner.

“I love Jasper County and look forward to working with the people of Jasper County. I appreciate your support,” she said.
