Middle School Baseball Cougars Off to Fast Start

The Piedmont Academy Middle School baseball team has recorded two wins in its first two outings of 2012.

The Cougars defeated Trinity 10-0 and Windsor 11-1 last week. Both games lasted five innings.

Wyatt Galloway and Michael Edwards combined for a strong pitching effort against Trinity while Austin Taylor allowed just one run in five innings of work against Windsor.

“Everyone is playing well,” coach Josh Daher said. “We are continuing to try and get better. We are taking what we learn in practice and trying to use it on the playing field. Coach (Dan) Funt and I are pleased with the attitude of the players.”

Perhaps the most satisfying aspect of his team’s early-season performance has been the defense, the coach said.

“We haven’t made an error in the first two games,” Daher said. “That’s a great sign for our team.”

The Middle School Cougars will host Nathanael Greene today, March 15 at 4:30 p.m.
