Middle School Lady Cougars Post Win
The Piedmont Academy Middle School girls soccer team put one in the win column Tuesday.
The Lady Cougars defeated Westminster 1-0 on a goal by Caroline Davis. Bailyn Whitaker had the assist.
“I was so happy to see everything finally click,” said coach Jake Landress. “This is what they have been working for. Every game this season has been an improvement for us. Everyone played very well.”
Making Tuesday’s win even more significant was the fact that Anna Martin and Haley Tyler, two of the team’s key players, were limited because of injury.
Piedmont also battled Strong Rock to a 1-1 tie Monday.
“It was a very physical game,” Landress said. “We showed much improvement from the first time we played them this season. We continue to improve.”
Taylor Swart scored for the Lady Cougars on an assist from Tyler.
Piedmont also played to a scoreless tie against Community Christian School last Friday.
“We played very well in that match,” Landress said. “We improved in several areas. We just could not finish. We had several opportunities that we did not capitalize on. However, I saw a big improvement from our first match of the season to our second match.”
