PA Golf Competes Tuesday
Piedmont Academy’s golf team faced Gatewood and Briarwood Tuesday with all three teams finishing within five strokes of each other.
Gatewood was the overall winner with a team score of 165 followed by Briarwood at 169 and Piedmont at 170. Tuesday’s round at Hunter Pope Country Club was the season low for the Cougars.
Five of the six Piedmont golfers had a round of 45 or better and two had personal bests. Branson Parish carded a 42 while James Marks finished with a 45.
“We want to make sure that our progress is continual and we don’t come to a stalemate,” said coach Wes Tanner. “Both of our opponents are teams that we will be in heavy competition with at the region match next month and it’s good for us to show we can be in rounds with them. If we card some rounds, I know we are going be right in the mix come region time.”
Drew Collins had a score of 41 Tuesday with a 42 from Tyler Cullum and a round of 45 by Kevin McBroom.
