MS Cougars Split with NGA

The Piedmont Academy Middle School baseball team split a doubleheader with Nathanael Greene last week.

The Cougars fell 7-4 in the opener before bouncing back with a big 12-0 win.

Nathanael Greene scored all seven of its runs in the second inning of the opener. Austin Taylor and Wyatt Galloway both pitched well, coach Josh Daher said. Taylor had pitched four innings where he did not allow a hit and Galloway recorded five strikeouts.

“We struggled offensively in the first game,” Daher said. “We hit some line drives where they were able to get in front of them and make a play.”

Michael Edwards pitched the second game as Piedmont cruised to the win. Taylor and Galloway helped contribute offensively.

Piedmont and Gatewood battled until the ninth inning Monday before the game was postponed due to darkness. The two teams will resume that game Monday in Eatonton before their scheduled meeting that afternoon.
