X-Girls Are Tournament Champs

Monticello native, Madison Reese and her FastPitch Softball Team, the X-GIRLS are 2012 “King Of The Mountain” Champions.

The Jones County based X-Girls 12U FastPitch Softball Team played in the CAM-Sports King of the Mountain tournament last weekend in Fayetteville.

The 54 teams in their age group were separated into three brackets after Friday night’s play, with the X-Girls losing a coin toss to end up in the Silver Bracket.

After going undefeated all day Saturday and most of the day Sunday, the X-Girls won the Championship by defeating the South Georgia Blast in a one inning shootout, 4-1.

Madie Findlay and Cheyanne Mosteller both homered during the tournament and finished strong with a .500 batting average and a .647 batting average, respectively.

Adding to the offense were Madison Reese batting .615 and Kaylin Curry batting .563. Tori Dover led the team with a .750 average for the weekend with a team high 12 hits.

On the defensive side, Dover and Reese split time on the mound, each finishing with a 3-1 record for the weekend. Dover pitched in 18 innings and struck out 21 batters, while Reese pitched 14 innings, striking out 9.

The X-Girls outscored their opponents 48 runs to 25. Reese and Dover were also given the official tournament game balls for their outstanding performances.
