OOPS!

Benjy Payne, of Bogart, was driving this 2002 Freight liner around midnight last Wednesday when he apparently took the curve at Rose Bowl field a little too fast and while trying to negotiate the curve, the truck overturned on its right side, and dumped the load of lumber it was carrying, according to a report by Trooper T. Bailey with the Georgia State Patrol.
Mr. Payne was charged with driving too fast for conditions and possibly driving under the influence, pending outcome of a blood test. The officer said that the driver volunteered the time frame in which he had an alcoholic beverage and drove, and that it’s possible it could go either way. For a commercial driver, .04 is the legal limit for alcohol consumption. Mr. Payne was life-flighted after the accident, but was out of the hospital this week.
Traffic was rerouted Thursday morning as workers continued to try to clean up the mess, and it likely interfered with lunch at Sgt. Jasper’s.
