Shiloh Wins, Loses in Recent Play

The Shiloh Christian Academy (SCA) Knights baseball team suffered a loss in their first home game last Thursday when they fell to the visiting Peachtree Academy Panthers of Covington by a final score of 5-4.
The defeat ended a six game winning streak for SCA and was its first loss since the first game of the season.
The Panthers scored first on an unearned run in the top of the second off of Knights starter Sam Mitchell. After a lead off walk, costly errors allowed Peachtree to claim an early 1-0 lead.
The Knights would respond in the bottom of the third when Micah Compton drew a one out walk and Matthew Lawson singled. Compton then scored on a David Sorrells RBI single and Lawson reached home on a wild pitch making SCA lead 2-1 after three.
Neither team scored in the fourth inning, and both teams earned a run in the fifth, Peachtree’s on an error and SCA on a RBI double by Sorrells which drove in Compton from a single.
Again the sixth was scoreless and the seventh started with SCA holding a slim one run lead.
After walking the lead batter, he was then picked off first, for out one. The Panthers rallied with four hits and a hit batter to score three runs, making their lead 5-3 in the bottom of the seventh.
Brandon Wilson, pitching a gem for the visitors, struck out the first two SCA batters in the bottom of the seventh before Lawson doubled, stole third, and scored on a Compton single up the middle.
Compton stole second to get into scoring position but was left stranded as the Peachtree starter closed out the win.
Monday, SCA returned to the win column with a 16-1 three inning run-ruled game at home.
Jonathan Martin got the start and a complete game win in his first ever game on the mound by giving up one run on four hits while striking out two.
The Knights scored five in the first, four in the second, and seven in the third in reaching the 15 runs invoking the mercy rule.
Caleb Compton led the offensive attack with three hits and three runs scored. David Sorrells, Jacob Young, Micah Compton, and Martin all had two hits apiece for SCA.
Shiloh is now 7-2 overall and is scheduled to travel to Conyers to face Young American today, April 19 at 4 p.m. SCA sees Old Suwanee Christian at home Tuesday, April 24 at 4 p.m. and then travels to Gatewood, Thursday, April 26 with the first pitch at 4 p.m.
