Jimmie Lee Rooks

Jimmie Lee Rooks, 78, of Monticello died June 12, 2012 at Grady Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Rooks was born January 22, 1934 to Henry and Sally Mae Jackson. He married Madotha R. Rooks, and was a devoted husband for over 50 years.

Mr. Rooks was an avid fisherman and loved to hunt. He worked for the Atlanta Housing Authority for over 30 years and was a self-employed painter. Mr. Rooks expressed a giving heart and was a man that others could depend on.

A son, Addison Lee Rooks preceded him in death.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include sons and daughter-in-law, Gregory Bernard and Loretta Rooks and Hillius Cordie Rooks, of Atlanta; a daughter, Susan Edwards of Hartford, CT; four grandsons and three granddaughters, a special friend Howard Banks (Straw) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A service was held Monday, June 18 at Springfield Baptist Church. Rev. Jimmy Horton officiated. Interment was in South View Cemetary in Monticello.

Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Monticello, was in charge of arrangements.
