Doris Velma Benton Tillman
Doris Velma Benton Tillman, 81, died Thursday, June 21, 2012, at The Retreat Nursing Home.
Mrs. Tillman was a lifelong resident of Jasper County. Her parents were the late Wyley Cape Benton and Velma Estelle Waters Benton. Before retirement, she worked for 10 years as the payroll manager for Georgia Pacific Corporation and 10 years for Monticello Manufacturing. Mrs. Tillman was a devoted member of Hillsboro Baptist Church and the Lorraine Dumas Outreach. Her husband, Henry Steven Tillman; sons, Kenny Tillman and Terry Tillman; and sister, Helen Benton McMichael, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Connie Tillman and Chris Clausen of Monticello, Susan and Glenn Boyce of Cumming, and Louise and Tony Henrique of Nahunta; grandchildren, Steven Tillman, Chris Mathews, Heath Mathews, Maggie Jensen, Ben Mathews, Hannah Mathews, Terri Brown, Dana Griffith, and Heather Henrique; and great-grandchildren, Caitlin Tillman, Chase Tillman, Tristan Mathews, Sierra Mathews, Mikala Mathews, Marianna Mathews, Ridge Mathews, Jackson Jensen, Jake Mathews, Katie Mathews, Olivia Mathews, Mackenzie Diaz, Evan Diaz, Chandler Morgan, Madison Morgan, Zebulon Griffith, and Amber Griffith.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Hillsboro Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Interment will be in Hebron Cemetery in Monticello. Rev. Stan Patterson will officiate.
Pallbearers were Steven Tillman, Chris Mathews, Heath Mathews, Ben Mathews, Chris Clausen, Glenn Boyce, and Tony Henrique.
