D. Bryant Seeks Seat on County Commission

DAVID BRYANT

David Bryant has announced his intention to seek the District 2 County Commission seat.

Mr. Bryant said he and his wife, Karen (former Jasper County Animal Control Director 2009-2011) moved to Jasper County two years ago.

“We wanted to make a home in a place that was outside the everyday hustle and bustle of the city. Growing up in Georgia with a love for the outdoors, Jasper County has always been the kind of place where I wanted to be. As a child, our family spent summers at Jackson Lake and had a cabin on the lake in Newton County.

“However, I always seemed to find myself on the other side of the lake! I spent a lot of time in my youth deer and turkey hunting in the woods of Jasper County near Hillsboro. I loved the area and all it had to offer an outdoors man. Jasper County has a lot to offer: Charles Elliott Wildlife Center, Piedmont Wildlife Refuge, thousands of acres in National Forest lands, as well as Jackson Lake just to name a few. It truly is a sportsman’s paradise and I love it here.

“I have been employed at Insider Newspapers, based in Newton County, for the past 12 years as a salesman, photographer, writer and graphic artist. I never know what each day will bring. Being able to multi-task is a much needed requirement in my day-to-day work load. My job requires the ability to provide excellent customer service and an open ear to the changing needs of my customers in an uncertain economy. I feel that this experience has given me a good foundation for the job as a County Commissioner.

“The taxpayers in Jasper County deserve to have someone with a desire to serve their needs. It is important to gather all the facts about the issues at hand in order to make an informed decision about the finances of the county. Always keeping in mind how those decisions will effect the citizens in District 2 but also Jasper County as a whole. If elected, I will work hard to make District 2 proud to call me their County Commissioner.

Mr. Bryant said his goals include:

• To encourage new industry which will result in more jobs available while keeping in mind the way of life most people wish to maintain in Jasper County.

• To support the Senior Center in its efforts to offer programs that are sorely needed.

• To help build and support the Recreation Department. I am glad to see they’re thinking outside the box with really creative ideas like last years’ Rienhart 3D Archery event.

• To conduct business in a professional way at all times. Our citizens do not deserve to see reports of mudslinging and unprofessional conduct.

• To develop a road maintenance program using proper techniques for repairing roads that is cost-effective and durable.

• To support the efforts of EMS and the Fire Dept.

• To evaluate the current county workforce and propose necessary changes. To make all county employees accountable for their successes and failures.

• To be a part of the solution for a better Jasper County and not part of the problem!

“I would consider it an honor to serve the people of Jasper County and especially those of District 2,” said Mr. Bryant.
