BARN FIRE

Firefighters were summoned to Armour Road at Wehunt Road Saturday afternoon when an old barn which had already been torn down caught fire, and they wasted no time in extinguishing the blaze.
The fire apparently began where a barrel of trash was burning and had been left unattended, said Jasper County Fire Chief Jarrett Slocumb.
On Sunday, lightning struck a tree on Alexander Road, causing it to flame up, and firefighters were able to also handle that fire quickly.
Lightning is also blamed for a brush fire that encompassed some 17 acres last Tuesday at the intersection of Hwy. 142 and Post Road in north Jasper County. No one was injured in any of the fires.
