Kenneth Haynes Slaughter, Jr.
Kenneth Haynes Slaughter, Jr. died Thursday, July 19, 2012.
Mr. Slaughter was born in Atlanta to Barbara Ann Godfrey Bowen and Kenneth Haynes Slaughter Sr. on March 12, 1953. He moved to Monticello from Rockdale County eight years ago.
He served in the National Guard during the 1970s and then had a career in law enforcement, which he loved. He was a Rockdale County Sheriff’s Department deputy where he was a member of the SWAT Team as well as the motorcycle unit.
Mr. Haynes was predeceased by his father.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his children, Jeff Slaughter and wife, Tracy, of Suwanee; Michael Slaughter and wife, Lauren, of Woodstock; and Mindy Slaughter of Panama City Beach, Fla.; grandchildren Kenley Slaughter, Mason Slaughter, Lily Slaughter, and Zebulon River Taft; sister, Terrie Ann Maloof of Loganville; brother, Donnie Slaughter of Norcross, and his partner in life, Deborah Lyon of Monticello.
A funeral service was held in the chapel of Jordan Funeral Home on Saturday, July 21, 2012, with interment in West View Cemetery. Rev. Charles Roper officiated. Pallbearers were Clinton Currie, David Nix, Cam Reed, Jeff Slaughter, Michael Slaughter, and Zebulon Thomas Taft.
Jordan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
