Newspaper Is Mailed Throughout County
If you are not a subscriber to The Monticello News, you have received this paper today to help you be informed about the elections coming up next Tuesday, July 31, as well as other news of Jasper County in hopes that you will find this paper informative and possibly even want to subscribe.
If you are a subscriber, we at The News say Thank You, and hope you will continue. In addition, we would love to hear from you about changes you’d like to see in the newspaper.
This week’s edition, as the subscribers will notice, is much larger than usual, and that is because it is the last edition before the election, and we promoted it to our advertisers that we would send the paper to every address in Jasper County.

Inside, readers will find the usual—obituaries on page 2, social and church news on page 3, commentary on page 4, and lots more. For example, school bus routes for Jasper County public schools are shown on pages 24 and 25, and school supply lists are on page 17.
In addition to the news articles, there are numerous advertisements from retail establishments, business services, and political candidates hoping to reach Jasperites who do not typically read the newspaper.
Through the years, we have even had people exclaim, “There’s a newspaper here?!”
So, yes, there is a newspaper here. The paper covers local government to help citizens learn how it works and understand how their tax dollars are spent. The newspaper covers school news, reporting on sports, band, excellence in the schools, and much more.
Local businesses support the newspaper by advertising, and we hope you support them. And, our classified section is quite affordable for the individual who has something to sell, rent, or obtain.
The Monticello News is your LOCAL newspaper. We are the only source for the news of Jasper County, and we are the legal organ for Jasper County.
Through this special mailing we are offering a 15-month subscription to The Monticello News for the price of one year. People who receive mail in Jasper County can pay $30 to receive the paper for the next 15 months. This offer applies to new, as well as returning, subscribers. For those outside of Jasper County, the cost is $35.
