MARKET ON THE SQUARE

Saturday mornings in Monticello are always busy times as local gardeners and farmers bring fresh produce to the Square to sell, and sometimes there’s also lots more to offer.
Many Saturdays, like the last one and the upcoming one, Les Steele sets up his keyboard under the shade tree and entertains visitors from 10 a.m. to noon.
The Market opens at 8:30 a.m., and last Saturday, visitors could have gotten fresh doughnuts which were being sold by Jasper County Middle School cheerleaders.
In addition, many vendors offer canned vegetables and products made from the local vegetables and fruits. Craftsmen are also welcome to display their wares, and some Saturdays, visitors can find wood working, jewelry, quilts, and lots more.
Fresh plans and flowers are almost always available, and some Saturday, visitors can even purchase local honey. The market is open until noon each Saturday through August.
