Valuable Jewelry Is Reported Stolen

A deputy with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) responded to a residence on Jackson Lake Road to investigate a burglary last Thursday, according to a report from the JCSO.

The resident reported that his door had been kicked in and several items were missing. Among those were a princess cut diamond ring valued at $5,000, a diamond necklace with three diamonds in a vertical row valued at $2,000 and an IPOD valued at $200.

Also, during the period of July 29 through August 4 the JCSO reported the following criminal activity:

• On August 4 a property owner on Goolsby Road reported the theft of a gold four-door Mazda automobile.

• On August 1 a resident on Herring Gull Court reported the theft of an Ace push lawn mower and a skill saw.

• On July 29 a property owner on Jackson Lake Road reported the theft of a cast iron picnic table, a cement picnic table and a deer skull.

• On July 29 a resident on Deer Run Circle in Newborn reported the theft of a Butterfly Impact Wrench, jack stands and an automobile transmission.

During the period of July 31 through August 7, the JCSO reported the following arrests:

• Marino Perez Guzman, 30, Shady Dale—disorderly conduct.

• Richard Davis Johnson, II, 24, Monticello—probation violation.

• Aaron Matthew Nelson, 18, Monticello—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to maintain lane and license violation.

• Lakesha Shunta Ponder, 32, Newborn—simple battery, simple battery on a police officer, obstruction of an officer, cruelty to children in the third degree and criminal trespass.

• Rodney Maurice Digby, 46, Monticello—theft by taking (two counts).

Also during the period mentioned above the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the arrest of John Peter Lawson, 17, of Monticello, and charged him with affray (fighting). During this same period officers with the MPD responded to 49 calls.

In addition, during this period the Georgia State Patrol reported the arrest of Noah Lamar Hipps, 31, of Mansfield, and charged him with seat belt violation and possession of marijuana less than one ounce.
