TWO WILL PLAY COLLEGE BASEBALL

Two Jasper County High School graduates, and former Hurricane baseball standouts, Johnathan Bell (pictured left) and Taylor Fields (pictured right) have both agreed to play baseball at Brewton-Parker College in its upcoming season. Both young men are pictured here with head baseball coach Chris Jenkins and their families. Mr. Bell signed his intent letter on Monday, while Tim Womack, step-father; and Pat Whitman, grandmother looked on.

Mr. Bell is the son of Stephanie Bell, and all of them reside in Monticello. Mr. Fields signed his letter of intent with his family and Coach Jenkins present on Tuesday. He was accompanied by his father Mark Fields, mother Meschael Fields, and sister Alexsis Fields. Both young men were standouts on the Hurricane baseball team in previous years, and Coach Jenkins said, “Johnathan and Taylor have outstanding work ethics, which allowed them to maximize their potential on the field. However, it was their work in the classroom that afforded them this opportunity.

“Both graduated with GPAs well above 3.0, which made them more attractive to Coach [Greg] Mullins, Head Coach at Brewton-Parker, than other players with similar abilities. “Watching how they carry themselves on and off the field, I can see exactly how I want my boys to turn out,” said the coach. Brewton-Parker College is in Mount Vernon.
