Eunice Mae Andrews Clements
Eunice Mae Andrews Clements, 88, of Eatonton died August 7, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta.
Mrs. Clements was born to the late George W. and Ida Stubbs Andrews in Putnam County on July 9, 1924.
She was a devoted wife and mother, one which always put the interests of her family first. Her children were her pride and joy, and she saw to it that they were given loving care, spiritual nourishment and material comforts.
Mrs. Clements received her education at Stanfordville School which was a part of Putnam County school system. She was gainfully employed with Eatonton Manufacturing Company and later as a “grandparent” with Putnam County Head Start.
Mrs. Clements made a commitment to Christ at an early age and joined St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Standfordville and supported its varied programs, projects, and ministries until her health declined.
Mrs. Clements married Hulon Lee Clements, Sr., on June 8, 1947 and the two had nine children. Her husband, and a son, Harold Lynn Clements, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children and spouses, Hulon and Deborah Clements of Oxford, Thedora and Robert Ogletree, Alvin, Melvin, Gerald and Lisa Clements, and George Clements, all of Eatonton; Beverly and Richard Ashby of Boynton Beach FL, and Dexter and Sara Clements of Watkinsville; sisters Lillian Jordan, of Cleveland, OH, Mildred Reid, of Atlanta; and Jacqueline Campbell of Decatur; a brother, George Andrews of Macon; 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and other relatives.
A service was held Sunday at Griggs Chapel A.M.E. Church, in Monticello. Revs. Melvin Henry and Faye Shannon officiated. Interment was held in the Griggs Chapel Cemetery.
