Criteria for the 40 Under 40 program include: making an impact in business, leadership, community, educational and/or philanthropic endeavors; demonstrating a commitment to maintaining a lifelong relationship with the University of Georgia; and aspiring to uphold the principles manifested in the three Pillars of the Arch, which are wisdom, justice and moderation.
The Alumni Association accepted nominations for the 40 Under 40 from February-April. Nominees then submitted additional material, which was reviewed by a selection committee. Alumni Association Executive Director Deborah Dietzler said it is important to engage and maintain a lifelong relationship with the university’s ever-growing young alumni population. “Of the 270,000 living UGA alums, approximately 93,000 qualified for this program,” said Dietzler.
More than 51 percent of UGA’s alumni earned degrees within the last 20 years.
