Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit by Vehicle
Timothy Joe Bell was struck in the rear by a vehicle as he was walking north on Hwy. 11 North, just past Suzy Q’s Convenience Store Monday night, according to information received from the Georgia State Patrol (GSP).
Mr. Bell was transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital where he died, according to the report. Aleshia Wyatt was walking with Mr. Bell at the time he was hit, however her injuries were not life threatening.
The driver of the white Chevrolet pickup which struck Mr. Bell was identified as Trinity Campbell, who reported that he did not see Mr. Bell or Ms. Wyatt until the moment of impact. The incident is still under investigation by the GSP Specialized Construction Reenactment Team (SCRT).

Also, during the period of August 7-14 the GSP reported the following arrests:
•Allie Nichole Moore, 28, Monticello—seat belt violation, driving on suspended license and hold for warrant in Jones County.
•Richard Lee Vaughn, 55, Macon—driving under the influence of
alcohol or drugs and failure to maintain lane.
•Montez Dionnita Huff, 24, Covington—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to maintain lane.
•James David Key, 56, Hendersonville, N.C.—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and possession of marijuana less than 1 oz.
Also during the period of July 29 through August 12 the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) reported the following criminal activity:
•On August 12 resident on Wild Road in North Jasper County reported the theft of an automobile door valued at $200.
•On August 11 a boat owner reported the theft of a marine battery and a life vest from a pontoon boat at Martin’s Marina on Jackson Lake Road.
•On August 11 the Alcovy Shores Water Authority on Blue Heron Drive reported the the door to the authority had been kicked in, however nothing was reported taken.
•On August 7 a resident on Rocky Creek Ridge in Mansfield reported the theft of a 2010 Pontiac automobile, however after an investigation it was discovered the complainant’s daughter was in possession of the vehicle.
•On August 7 a resident on Wild Road reported the theft of an air compressor and other various items.
•On August 6 a resident on Herring Gull Court reported the theft of a yellow gold bracelet.
•On July 29 a resident on Turtle Cove Trailway in Turtle Cove reported the theft of an X-Box.
In addition, during the period of August 7-14 the JCSO reported the following arrests:
•Charles Timothy Thompson, 54, Mansfield—disorderly conduct.
•Intisar Jazzaa, 33, Clarkston—disorderly conduct.
•Christopher Derrick Howard, 26, Monticello—probation violation.
•Milton James Jeffery, 22, Monticello—probation violation.
•Ersel Michael Belcher, 27, Milledgeville—probation violation.
During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 136 calls for service including 20 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 10 subject needs officer, nine alarm, eight mechanical breakdown, seven accident, five each assist motorist, theft by taking, music/noise complaint and road hazard, four each burglary, domestic, and pick up prisoner/subject, three each four wheeler, juvenile complaint, threatening/harassing calls, argument and attempt to serve warrant, two each prowler report, escort or convoy, be on the look out, welfare check and vandalism of property, one each dog disturbance, speeding auto, courtesy ride, livestock on road, wanted/stolen indicated, shortness of breath, miscellaneous EMS, assist invalid, extra patrol, road rage, discharge firearms, private property and property found.
Also, during the period of August 7-14 the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the following arrests:
•Todd Van Ray, 35, Monticello—hold for warrant in Cedar Town.
•Larry Demond Dumas, 27, Monticello—criminal damage to property in the first degree.
•Andrea Frederica Barkley, 34, Monticello—disorderly conduct and probation violation.
They also took a warrant for Patricia Renea Hinds for battery and disorderly conduct. The warrant states that Ms. Hinds drove to the Circle K and engaged the victim in a violent confrontation causing visible injury to her head. The warrant is dated August 6, but Ms. Hinds had not been arrested as of late Tuesday afternoon.
Also, from August 7-14, officers with the MPD responded to 52 calls for service including 14 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, four each escort or convoy, trouble unknown and argument, three each alarm and vandalism of property, two each domestic, accident, speeding auto, deliver emergency message, subject needs officer and private property, one each assist motorist mechanical breakdown, crowd disbursement, road rage, juvenile complaint, trespassing, shoplifter and threatening/harassing calls.
