Stolen Handgun Is Recovered
Dustin Tyler Lewis of a Loganville address was arrested on August 16 by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) and charged with a felony charge of theft by taking.
After Mr. Lewis was stopped by an officer in Auburn, Ga. he was found to be in possession of a Taurus .38 caliber revolver which he said he had stolen from a residence in Jasper County.
An investigation revealed this handgun to be the one a resident on Turtle Cove Trailway had reported stolen on July 28, 2012.
Two other criminal incidents reported by the JCSO include the following:
• On August 18, a resident on Lakeshore Drive reported the theft of a black and white bicycle and a blue and silver bicycle.
• On August 9, a resident on Rocky Creek Road in Mansfield reported the theft of a mailbox and four-by-four stand with a Georgia Bulldog Symbol. The suspect was allegedly driving a blue Chevrolet pickup truck.

Also, during the period of August 14-21 the JCSO reported the following arrests:
• Miles Xavier Campbell, 21, Monticello—battery.
• Jody Louis Jackson, 45, Newborn—criminal trespass and cruelty to children in the third degree.
• Anthony Jerome Smith, 52, Monticello—parole violation.
• Terry Lenorris Hardeman, 30, Mansfield—probation violation.
• Jan Miller Spann, 63, Mansfield—obstruction of an officer and disorderly conduct.
• Mark Edward Pringle, 29, Covington—probation violation.

During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 146 calls for service including 40 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 14 subject needs officer, 13 alarm, seven accidents, five each juvenile complaint and pick up prisoner/subject, four each dog disturbance, burglary, mechanical breakdown, theft by taking trouble unknown, and vandalism of property.
Also, three each livestock on road, music/noise complaint and argument, two each fight, prowler report, deliver emergency message, welfare check, four wheeler, private property, threatening/harassing calls, road hazard and abandoned vehicle, one each domestic, assist motorist, speeding auto, hit and run, fire alarm, child custody case, discharge firearms trespassing, persons refuse to leave, fraud/theft by deceiving and transport of patient.
In addition, during the same period mentioned above the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the following arrests:
• Glen Edward Carter, 57, Monticello—probation violation.
• Patricia Renea Hinds, 19, Monticello—battery and disorderly conduct.
• Terry Lee Lynch, 47, Monticello—open container.
During the same period as mentioned above officers with the MPD responded to 71 calls for service including 30 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, six subject needs officer, five escort or convoy, four theft by taking, three burglary, two each alarm, speeding auto, fall, trouble unknown and shoplifter, one each fight, assist motorist, accident, intoxicated driver, hit and run, mechanical break down, utility department needed, juvenile complaint, private property, threatening/harassing calls, vandalism of property, road hazard and drinking in public.
