Monday Is Labor Day

Next Monday, Sept. 3, is Labor Day, a national holiday and the unofficial end to summer.

Of course, hereabouts, children returned to school weeks, or at least days, ago, and football starts this week, so we know fall is in the air.

Because of the holiday, banks and post offices will be closed. The Monticello News office will close Monday for the holiday. Therefore, the deadline for items to be submitted for next week’s Monticello News is tomorrow, Aug. 31.

There is a slot in the front door where news items, payments, advertisements, etc. can be dropped. In addition, interested persons may send us e-mails, or call and leave a message to be returned Tuesday.
