Nancy Baeder Seeks Election to Commission

NANCY BAEDER

Nancy Baeder has qualified to run as an independent for Jasper County Commission, District 1.

Ms. Baeder said she is running because she has new ideas, new directions, and she is honest.

“I will always tell you the truth and ask that you tell me the same. If I do not have the answer, I will find it for you. If I make a mistake, I will tell you and how I plan to fix it.

“I will always respond to your e-mails and telephone calls as soon as I can. I will always listen to your concerns and ideas and see what I can do about them.”

Ms. Baeder said she is decisive.

“I will not hide behind a county attorney and ‘investigations.’ I will do the required research and seek your opinion on the issues regarding this county.”

She said she will be stingy with her constituents’ money.

“I will find ways to save your money in the running of this county. I understand how to live within my means. I will not manipulate statistics to try to convince you that the higher tax bill you just received is really a tax reduction.

“You have a choice on November 6, 2012. You can vote for the incumbent who has been in office for 28 years or you can vote for me. I have lived in Jasper County for the past eight years. My parents moved here in 1973. My mother’s family has been in Jasper County since 1815.

“I graduated from Oakland University with a BA in history. I have lived in Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, California, Vermont, New Jersey, Michigan, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York and now, finally, Georgia again. I have worked in real estate, as a paralegal, a journalist, a banker and in customer service.

“I am running as an independent because I only want to owe you, my constituents. I do not want party politics to influence my decisions or votes. I do not plan on soliciting donations as I do not want either companies or individuals feeling that they have influence over me and county decisions.

“I will not be pressured into supporting projects that benefit other counties more than Jasper. This means I am against the Bear Creek Reservoir. This project’s budget projections are faulty and would end up costing Jasper County millions of dollars that we do not have and, if we did, are better spent elsewhere.

“I will not be pressured into supporting a private company (JCWSA) with county funds. I am sorry they have made some poor business decisions, but Jasper has no obligation to bail them out.

“Presently, I am the chair of the Animal Control subcommittee. I helped bring to light inhumane treatment by the now-terminated AC Director. This helped bring to light the poor job performance of the now-terminated County Manager.”

Ms. Baeder said, “Make a list of Carl Pennamon’s accomplishments. If you are like me, you do not have much of a list. We have given this man 28 years to accomplish what? Waffling, indecision, voting whichever way the wind is blowing and endless “investigations”? We deserve more and better!

“I promise you, this will not be my record if you give me your vote and your confidence on November 6, 2012.”.
