Piedmont Runners Begin New Season

The new season officially began for the Piedmont Academy cross country program Saturday.

Both the Cougars and Lady Cougars ran at Loganville Christian Academy with coach Traci Brady pleased with her runners’ efforts.

“I was very proud of all who competed in Saturday’s meet,” Brady said. “We had some very good times considering this was our first meet of the season.”

Logan Partenza placed 18th among 60 varsity boy runners with a time of 22:15 in the 3.2-mile event. At the meet, Partenza broke a school record for the varsity program with his time.

Mack Brady completed the event in 23:28 followed by Austin Bass in 24:29.

For the Lady Cougars, Lynne Marie Edwards ran a 30:43, placing her 19th out of 45 varsity competitors. Lanie King completed the event in 32:25 followed by Savannah McGinnis in 33:02.

Junior varsity girl runner Alina Jablonski was fifth among 25 athletes in the 1.6-mile race while Chase Tweedell finished in 13:49 for the JV boys.

“We hope to take this first meet and use it as a learning experience,” Brady said. “I had several runners after the meet set goals for the season which I am very excited about.”
