Juanita Bella Spriggs

Juanita Bella Spriggs died September 10, 2012.

Ms. Spriggs, better known as “Ms. Tone” was born on April 25, 1955 in Denver, Colo., to a family of 12 children, the only girl with 11 brothers.

“Ms. Tonie” learned how to ride horses, and developed a great love for them at an early age. When she was 12, Tonie lost both parents in an accident; she then lived with several of her brothers.

“Ms. Tonie” left at the age of 16 and started her life on her on.

She lived out west most of her life, and lost contact with her brothers before coming to Georgia.

As a carpenter, and expert of wood work, Ms. Spriggs went to work in cabinetry. “Ms. Tonie” could build anything out of wood that she put her mind to. She came to Monticello with her job in cabinetry.

Ms. Spriggs was a member of the Church at Monticello and was a volunteer at Sunrise Gifts and Thrift Store.

“Ms. Tonie” had a heart of gold, and never met a stranger. She would often buy gifts for people and leave them in that their cars anonymously. Her passion in life included her Native American heritage, shooting pool; Marty Robinson {country singer} and star trek {she was more interested in Mr. Spock}.

Ms. Spriggs could be seen walking into town in her tie- dyed tee shirts and her blue jeans to pay her bills. She would ask her friends to take her out of town if she needed something, or just wanted to go look around at the different thrift stores or flea markets.

Her loyalty to her family and friends is one of the many reasons she will be greatly missed; and will always be loved by those who were blessed to have known her.

A memorial service is going to be held at the Church at Monticello this Sunday, Sept. 23, at 5:30 p.m. All are invited to attend and share their memories of “Ms. Tonie.”
