Middle School Cougars Lose at John Milledge
The Piedmont Academy Middle School football team dropped a 28-16 contest to John Milledge last Thursday on the road.
“We played very scrappy and tough, but did not execute later in the game and could not pull out the win,” coach Wes Tanner said.
The Cougars had a kickoff return and a touchdown reception by Michael Edwards and a pair of two-point conversions by Tyler Mills. Mack Brady was effective passing and running the football, his coach said.
“Turnovers are what hurt us in the second half,” Tanner said. “We were unable to put anything together offensively, but kept after it the whole night. We have to respond well in the upcoming weeks.
“Our off week from playing is a welcome chance to get better at some things and heal up any nagging injuries we may have. Last week was a hard-fought game. We just came up a bit short.”
Piedmont’s Middle School football teams returns to action Thursday, Sept. 27, at home against Gatewood at 6 p.m.
