12 Is Enough for Win

Tim Anglin of Monticello, a long-time football contest player was the only player lucky, or skilled, enough to pick the winners in as many as 12 games listed in last week’s Monticello News football contest.
That means that Mr. Anglin only missed two, because the third game listed in the contest, Oconee at Morgan County, will not be played until this Friday. Mr. Anglin was the only player with 12 right, and only two players, Susan Evans and Jan Lewis, out of nearly 200 players, had as many as 11 right.
For his effort, Mr. Anglin collected a $25 prize from Jeremy Knight at Town ‘N Country General Store, sponsor of the week.
It would have been a fun week for a tie, because it’s doubtful anyone guessed a tie-breaker as high as the 87 points scored in Piedmont’s loss to Edmund Burke, 46-41.
Mr. Anglin, a Georgia Tech fan, had faith in his Yellow Jackets, but they let him down. The only other game he missed was in the pros—he thought San Francisco would beat Minnesota, but it wasn’t to be.

Mr. Anglin has friends he plays against, also, and they keep up with a running tally for the season, so he definitely has bragging rights this week. He’ll have to keep it up to be a season winner.
Maybe one of Mr. Anglin’s friends or other seasoned player will be the winner this week, or maybe it will be a novice who is just plain lucky. Who knows? Anyone can play, and anyone can win.
Just complete the contest form on page 16 of today’s paper, or write the winners on a separate piece of paper, and get it into The News office, 237 West Washington St., about a half-block off the Square, by 5 p.m. tomorrow, Sept. 28. Or fax it to 706-468-6576.
The ‘Canes were off last week, but both local teams play this week, as do many other local favorites. Remember, you can’t win if you don’t play. This week’s winner will pick up a $25 prize from Tennessee fan David Leach at Monticello Drugs.
And, remember anyone with 12 or more right qualifies for the Grand Prize Honor Roll and will be in a drawing for four tickets to the Chic-Fil-A Bowl in Atlanta in December. Mr. Anglin and Brady McMichael both already have two chances to win…join them; it’s free!
