Gerald Shields Cunard

Gerald Shields Cunard, 74, of High Point, N.C. died Friday, Oct. 19, 2012 at the Hospice Home at High Point.

Mr. Cunard was born May 9, 1938 in Monticello to Elbert Elwood and Evelyn Malone Cunard. he had been a resident of High Point since 1981 and was retired from JSK Mortgage as Vice President. Mr. Cunard was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the First Wesleyan Church. He was a former usher and served as chairman greeter at the church for 15 years.

Mr. Cunard was married to the former Sybil Kelly who survives him. Also surviving are two sons; Kel Cunard and wife, Julie, of Bradenton, Fla., and Jonathan Cunard and wife, Amelia, of New York; grandchildren, Dylan, Ethan, and Noah Cunard; two brothers, Malone Cunard of Monticello, and Elbert Cunard of Gray.

Mr. Cunard was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters, Elise West, Shirley Davis, and Evelyn Polk.

A service was held October 21, 2012 at the First Wesleyan Church at Providence Place with Rev. Rick Caanaugh, Rev. Doug Tobin, and son Kel Cunard speaking. Interment was held October 22, at Prospect United Methodist Church in Monticello.
