Man Charged With Cruelty To Children

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) reported the arrest of Luke Emory Stringer, 19, of Mansfield, and charged him with cruelty to children in the first degree.

According to the official report Mr. Stringer slapped and shook an infant.

The JCSO reported only two other arrests during the period of October 23-30. They were:

• Jerry Henry Brown, 30, Covington—probation violation.

• David Jason Davis, 36, Monticello—criminal trespass.

During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 118 calls for service including 24 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 17 alarm, 15 subject needs officer, seven accident, six assist motorist, five each mechanical breakdown, road hazard and trouble unknown, and four each speeding auto, intoxicated driver and vandalism of property.

Also, two each livestock on road, pick up prisoner/subject, juvenile complaint, discharge firearms and threatening/harassing calls, one each fight, dog disturbance, domestic, escort or convoy, theft by taking, wanted/stolen indicated, missing person, extra patrol, four wheeler, music/noise complaint, abandoned vehicle and fraud/theft by deceiving.

In addition, on October 24 and 27 the JCSO reported the following two criminal incidents:

• On October 27 a resident of a mobile home park on Wyatt Road reported prior thefts, in two different incidents, of window air conditioning units and a hide away bed.

• On October 24 a resident on Jackson Lake Road reported the theft of a water heater and copper pipes.

Also during the period of October 23-30 the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the following arrests:

• William Russell Lynch, 46, Monticello–disorderly conduct and public drunk.

• Alray Leonard Goolsby, 62, Monticello—disorderly conduct and open container.

• Wilbur Standifer, 48, Monticello—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving on the wrong side of the road and failure to obey authorized person directing traffic.

• Shirley Wise Benton, 53, Monticello—open container and public drunkenness.

• Jason Fidell Hurt, 37, Eatonton—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and open container.

• Christina Lockhart, 35, Monticello—battery.

• Leonard Lee Davis, 29, Monticello—disorderly conduct.

• Andy Mark Carter, 47, Monticello—disorderly conduct.

During this same period officers with the MPD responded to 55 calls for service including 17 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, four subject needs officer, three each alarm, domestic and accident, two each intoxicated driver, intoxicated pedestrian, mechanical breakdown, juvenile complaint, trouble unknown, argument and persons refuse to leave, one each sick, fight, speeding auto, escort or convoy, fire alarm, chest pain, heart attack, crowd disbursement, vandalism of property, checking location and 911 hang up.
