Frank Carden Dumas
Frank Carden Dumas of Hillsboro died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at the Coliseum Medical Center in Macon.
Mr. Dumas was born in Hillsboro to the late Joseph Coleman Dumas and Mary Levi Goolsby Dumas. He lived in Macon for 20 years before returning to Hillsboro in 1974. Mr. Dumas served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a Southern Tech graduate with a Civil Engineering degree.
Before retirement, he owned and operated the Frank Dumas Construction Company. After retirement, he was the road superintendent for Jasper County Public Works.
Mr. Dumas loved fishing, boating, shrimping, and restoring old boats. He loved woodworking projects and built several homes. His last project included restoring a log cabin that was moved from the Hadaway property and relocated to the Dumas property.
A son-in-law, James Braxton Holman, and brothers, Coleman Dumas and Bill Dumas, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Hadaway Dumas of Hillsboro; daughter, Donna Dumas Holman of Monticello; son, Frank “Petey” Dumas, Jr. of Griffin; six grandchildren; a number of great- grandchildren; and a brother, John Edmund Dumas of Hillsboro.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 8, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Hillsboro Baptist Church. Interment will be held in the Dumas Family Cemetery in Hillsboro. Revs Phillips Gilbert, Clyde Carter, and John McDuffie, will officiate.
Pallbearers will be C.K. Dickerson, Dick Justice, Walter Duffee, Jody Mingledorff, Chris Baden, Guerry Marsh, Robert Gilbert, David Holman, and Todd Cowart. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Goolsby and Walter Lewis.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Nov. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Hillsboro Community Center, c/o Ms. Sudy Stuckey, 220 Fullerton-Phillips Road, Monticello, GA 31064.
