Player Wins Three Weeks Straight; A News Football Contest First

TYLER COOPER ACCEPTS PRIZE FROM LES JOHNSON

We can hardly believe it either, but Tyler Cooper has won the football contest for the third week in a row, on the tie-breaker.

Mr. Cooper, a sophomore at Jasper County High School either knows his sport or is extremely lucky.

Mr. Cooper was one of four players to correctly guess 13 of the 15 games listed this week and was closest to the 60 point tie-breaker with 45.

Mr. Cooper and his dad and brother arrived at Larry’s 4-Way Stop to pick up his third $25 prize from Les Johnson.

Tyler told me, “The Alabama-Georgia game was one for Gator nation.” He was referring to the Florida Gators making it to a BCS Bowl game without having to play for the championship.

Mr. Cooper, Tyler’s dad, said “we’re going to Vegas, to bet on the Super Bowl,” while finding it comical that his son had won again.

Just behind the novice player were John Braden and Ryan McDonald, both winners already this year, and Garrett Kirksey.

All four of these guys will have their names added to the honor roll this week for a chance to go to the Chick-fil-a Bowl New Year’s Eve to watch LSU face Clemson.

Four others also correctly guessed 12 this week to have their names added to the Honor Roll as well. Those include Lawson Fulton, Sonja Tumlin, Nelson Cullum, and Jenifer Kirksey.

This is the last week to play The Monticello News football contest, and pick up the final prize from Hamilton State Bank, this week’s sponsor, and have your name added to the grand prize drawing. So players sharpen your pencils and fill out this week’s contest on page 15.
