Santa Comes Saturday

There was no shortage of fun, community activities Saturday, as the ML&J fund benefited from two fund raisers in Monticello, and the folks in Shady Dale had a visit from a very special person—Santa Claus, and welcomed the Christmas season as it does each year with a community-wide covered dish dinner and silent auction. Saturday morning, warm temperatures abounded for the “Polar Express” to take children, and young at heart, on rides around the lot of Sharon Pennebaker, and visit with Santa Claus at the home of Tricia Armistead on Forsyth Street.

Each person also had a chance to have his or her photo taken. The entry fee was a gift for a child or a teenager to be distributed by the ML&J fund this Christmas.

Saturday evening, an art show was held at Deptula’s Restaurant on Frobel Street. Although both fund raiser events were successful, more help is needed (see letter to editor, page 4). Ms. Armistead enjoyed all her visitors and features many of them in an ad on page 16 of today’s paper.
