Shiloh Basketball Is Busy in New Year

The Shiloh Christian Academy Knights and Lady Knights basketball teams have began playing already in 2013, staying busy to usher in the new year.

Last Thursday, the junior pro and middle school teams travelled to Milner to take on the St. George Episcopal School Dragons and lost three of the four games played.

The junior pro Lady Knights battled valiantly but lost 14-8. Elizabeth Curtis led the way with 4, Laura Miller and Nicole Clements both added a basket. The junior pro girls are now 2-7 for the year.

In the Knights Jr. Pro game, they lost a hard-fought battle in double overtime by a final of 26-24, falling to 4-7 for the season.

Parker Wyatt led Shiloh with 8 points and Matt Mitchell and Austin Cumbess both scored 6.

The junior pro teams return to action Saturday, Jan. 12 when they host Middle Georgia Christian in Newborn at noon.

The middle school Lady Knights, won easily behind a strong fast-break offense that was led by McKenzie Tolbert with 16 points. Rachael Jackson added 11 for SCA, while Nicole Clements scored 4.

The middle school girls are now 9-5 on the season and will return to action on Thursday, Jan. 10, at Nathanael Greene. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.

The middle school Knights played without two starters, but continued to battle hard and giving the host Dragons all they wanted, before succumbing to a 34-30 final.

The Knights were led by Sam Mitchell with 15, and followed by Wyatt with 7, and Matt Mitchell and Will Mitchell with 4 each.

The middle school boys also travel to Nathanael Greene today. Both middle school teams will then host Westwood Christian, Saturday, Jan. 12 at 10 a.m.

Last Friday, the junior varsity and varsity Knights got the second half of their seasons started when they travelled to face Heritage Academy where Shiloh was only able to pull out one victory against a deep and experienced program.

In the junior varsity Lady Knights game, they played well and took the Lady Crusaders to the wire before falling 24-20.

Remington Marsh led the scoring for SCA with 8, while Tolbert added 7, and Maddie Davidson 4. The JV Lady Knights are now 3-3 and after Tuesday’s game hosting Bible Baptist, will not return to action until January 24 when they travel to Macon to take on Macon Area Christian.

In boys action, the jv Knights ran their record to 4-4 with a 33-30 win over Heritage.

Shiloh was led by David Sorrells with 14, while Justin Clark had 10, Mitchell had 6, and Jacob Young added 3. The JV boys also faced Bible Baptist and will host Bethlehem Christian, Friday, Jan. 11 at 4:30 p.m.

In the varsity Lady Knights game, they had no answers for the undefeated Lady Crusaders, and were overwhelmed by a final of 73-13. Marsh led once again with 9. SCA falls to 2-6 for the season.

The Knights also had a rough night of it, falling by a final of 64-21. Taylor Richardson led the way for SCA with 11 points with Mitchell adding 6.

The varsity teams hosted Bible Baptist on Tuesday night and will also host Bethlehem Christian Friday, Jan. 11 at 6 p.m.

Shiloh basketball returned to the home gym on Saturday when the middle school boys and varsity boys hosted Faith Christian Academy.

The middle school Knights ran their record to 10-5 with an easy 31-16 win over the visiting Lions. SCA was paced by Sam Mitchell with a game high 20 points, while R. J. Whitlock added 6, Wyatt 3, and Nathan Crawford scored 2.

The varsity Knights put up a strong effort against a much bigger and very athletic FCA varsity squad before falling 35-28. Sorrells led the scoring with 13, while Richardson and Whitlock both added 6. The boys fall to 0-9 for the year.
