CLEAN-UP TIME

Monticello Mayor Bryan Standifer places a bag of recyclables into the recycling bin on the city lot off Funderburg Drive, and says he’s gearing up for a something bigger and better. In conjunction with Advanced Disposal Company (ADS), the city is going to have a Spring Fling Clean-up on Saturday, April 6, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the site. It will be an opportunity for city residents to dispose of bulk items that don’t fit in their trash carts.

Residents can bring sofas, chairs, mattresses, etc. to the city lot, and ADS workers and city workers will be on hand to help them dispose of the items at no charge. Steve Edwards with ADS said that Advanced is more than the city’s garbage service, “we’re partners.”

He said Monticello is a wonderful community and ADS welcomes the opportunity to partner with the city. One effort that the new city manager, Tim Sweezey has been active in is cleaning up the city, and this is the next step. Residents cannot take paint, tires, or yard waste, but it will be a good opportunity to dispose of some large unwanted items.
