Lucille Motes Atkins

Lucille Motes Atkins, 94, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at The Retreat Nursing Home.

Mrs. Atkins was born in Rockmart to the late William Henton Motes and Cora Lee Thomason Motes. She lived in Rome for a number of years until moving to Monticello in 1982. She was a member of New Armechee Baptist Church. Before retirement, Lucille and her late husband, Clyde Lindsey Atkins owned and operated Rainbow Café and Atkins Motors.

Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Gail Atkins Ewing, two brothers, and four sisters.

She is survived by her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sanders and Gladys Atkins of Silver Creek, Hilda Atkins Moore of Rome, and Chris Atkins of Monticello; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 9, 2012, at Jordan Funeral Home.)

Funeral services are scheduled Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Jordan Funeral Home, with interment in West View Cemetery. Chaplain Andrew Pasedag officiated.

Pallbearers are Charles Harper, Charles Bramlett, Ben Harper, Bob Bramlett, and John “Spike” Jones.

The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to one’s favorite charity.

Jordan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
