Piedmont Tennis Begins

The new Piedmont Academy tennis season arrived last week for the Cougars and Lady Cougars as they hosted Bethlehem Christian Academy.

Britton Bailey and Drew Collins won for the varsity boys in doubles action 8-3.

Brittany Germany, playing No. 1 girls singles, won 8-4, while Katie Brennan won 8-5 at No. 3 singles.

Overall, Piedmont won 3-of-5 matches played before rain cancelled the remainder of the scheduled competition.

“Things went fairly well for the opener,” coach Sarah Wagnon said.

Piedmont is scheduled to travel to Flint River in Woodbury for a region match Friday at 4 p.m. The team will then be at Monsignor Donovan Tuesday, also at 4 p.m.
