Citizens should get to know their neighbors and help watch out for their homes while they are away. Make note of and report suspicious vehicles and persons to law enforcement. Having the make, model and serial numbers for valuables is the fastest way to get them back in the event you are the victim of a burglary. This would include firearms, electronics, outdoor equipment and jewelry.
Photograph valuables which do not have serial numbers and store the identifiers in a place that isn’t well known to other, and keep a copy of the information at work, with your insurance company, on your person or at another safe place.
