B. Pickett Must Serve 5 Years
Brianna M. Pickett was found to have violated her first offender status on the charge of sale of a controlled substance in October, 2011, by way of the new charges of escape, possession of meth, criminal trespass, obstruction, forgery and giving false information. Ms. Pickett was sentenced to five years in prison with credit for time served since October 4, 2011.
Ms. Pickett’s case was one of several on the motion day calendar Tuesday in Jasper Superior Court with Judge James L. Cline presiding.
Four other criminal cases on the calendar were processed as follows:

•Clayton Besley, Jr., who was on probation for the charges of terroristic threats and acts and obstruction of officers in September of 2010, was found to have violated his probation by the new charges of criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and obstruction, and was sentenced to serve 90 days in the county jail with credit for time served since March 7, 2013, after which to be returned to regular probation
• Anthony E. Parker, who was on probation for the charge of battery in February of 2012, was found to have violated his probation via the new charges of disorderly conduct, criminal trespass, failure to report and failure to complete domestic violence intervention program. Mr. Parker was sentenced to 180 days in the county jail suspended upon entry into a detention center for 120-180 days and upon release to complete domestic violence intervention program and upon completion be returned to active probation supervision.
• Joshua R. Shumate, who was on probation for the charges of simple battery and driving under the influence in November of 2010, was found to have violated his probation via the new charges of failure to report, failure to pay fines and fees and failure to complete community service. Mr. Shumate was sentenced to 150 days in the county jail, and after serving 45 days be released upon payment of $500 and return to regular probation supervision.
• John L. Jackson, who was on probation for violation of the Ga. controlled substance act and possession of drug related objects in May of 2008, was found to have violated his probation for unspecified charges. Mr. Jackson was sentenced to serve in county jail until May 4, 2013.
Magistrate Court
Also, on April 5, 2013 the Chief Magistrate Ken Jackson held Criminal Ordinance Violation Arraignments with the following action:
• Tommy Herbert, Shayla N. Hardwick, Leroy Hardwick and Vonzo Edwards all pled not guilty to the charge of solid waste disposal violation, and bench trials were scheduled for Friday, April 19.
• Shane D. Griffith pled not guilty to the charge of criminal trespass and was also scheduled for trial on April 19.
• Peter Symington pled guilty to the charge of solid waste disposal and was sentenced to 12 months probation, 40 hours of community service and fined $300.
• Christopher Head and Kristin Rogers both failed to appear to answer the charge of theft of utilities and bench warrants were issued for their arrest.
• Jerry E. McClain made a bond appearance on the charges of possession of meth, possession of drug related objects and tail light requirements, and was granted a bond of $7,000.
