Middle School Cougars Lose Three

Piedmont Academy’s Middle School baseball team lost three games during the past week.
The Middle School Cougars fell 4-1 to Gatewood April 10 as Mack Brady worked five innings on the pitcher’s mound and also contributed a hit at the plate.
Wyatt Galloway scored a run while Michael Edwards had the team’s lone RBI. Talon Anglin and Danny Ramsdell both drew walks.
On Saturday, Piedmont was overwhelmed 20-1 by Tattnall Square. Galloway, Edwards, Jordan Pace and Joseph Anderson each pitched.
The Middle School Cougars also fell 12-0 to Stratford Monday. That defeat knocked Piedmont out of playoff contention.
Piedmont will host Gatewood April 27 at noon.
“Hopefully, we can play well down the stretch,” coach Dan Funt said. “It has been a struggle lately. The players are learning a lot of life lessons right now through the game of baseball, which is what sports are all about.”
